Zero cares about what they want. You can't let the inmates run the asylum and a good hire will win them over quickly anyways.

What good hire is this in which you speak of?

This is not going to happen, but there is a precedent right on campus that's shown it can work. Jose Fernandez was an assistant to Jerry Ann Winters when she was fired in 2000. Paul Griffin gave Jose the job even though he'd had no collegiate head coaching experience. He was primarily a high school coach. Those of us around the program at that time thought it was a crazy hire. Well, that one's turned out pretty darned good.

Can Jose run BOTH teams?

This is a big reason why Heath should have been given one more year with the new AD starting.

Harlan was forced to be reactive to a situation where he was not really 100% up to speed on all the issues. He didn't know the ins and outs of the landscape he was dealing with.

One year on the job and he could have his man ready to go if a change was deemed necessary.

Now we are left scrambling.

And no, I don't believe the inmates should be running the asylum, but Rocc does deserve a chance to be considered for the position if he is even interested.

If the players are starting to complain we better get this search done soon or we may start seeing some defections.

At this point, anyone that can come in and change the culture of the program and bring an exciting style of basketball with them. Coach Rocc was a part of the culture here that players seemed to give low/inconsistent effort on a night to night basis. Would people here have been ok with us hiring say Fitch, when Holtz got booted? The men's basketball program needs a complete reboot and new blood. When Masiello was first mentioned everyone wasn't gaga over him until there was some digging done. The program needs to hire a young assistant from outside the program that will bring energy on and off the court. Most of my top candidates list is off the board however, that doesn't mean there aren't candidates out there that bring what we need to the table Antigua is an interesting prospect that could be the right kind of hire imo....

It's good to see the players show a pulse on the issue. However, do you trust the same players that wouldn't take offensive charges and hustle hard for Heath, to do the same for Coach Roc.

If the answer is 'yes', we will bust our ass for him, then it's certainly worth a listen. I'm not convinced these talented players really know the nuances of the game or not yet.

Exactly this.

Coach Rocc might have been on Heath's staff but no one with decent eye sight can say that he got to use much of or if any of his offensive philosophy while here. He got to recruit and did it well. Maybe these players would play hard for him and just maybe they get to see and hear Coach Rocc's philosophy on offense and defense and like what they saw and heard. Corey Allen seems to think that they will play uptempo with Coach Rocc which along proves that Rocc didn't have much influence with Heath as the head coach.

Anybody linking Rocc to Heath more then just being on the staff doesn't know what they are talking about. Again he's from Calipari's tree, not Stan Heath.

I would keep him on staff if I took over.
