Why would the Usf athletic department not hush all the big media outlets with a simple explanation of it not being done until all checks were complete.

LOL... You're kidding, right??

Um no. I don't get it. Why would they announce it at all or at least say its not official yet if it was leaked.

Kindergarten ****. Let me guess we did no wrong in your eyes ?

Did I miss where USF announced Masiello's hiring?

EXACTLY....USF never announced the signing, it was the other outlets that jumped the gun and announced before the final steps of the process were complete.

The question should be, why did outlets jump the gun and announce the signing? Athletics has been prone to leaks for a while. Harlan is going to have to deal with this issue quickly. This is one case where seemingly postive information was likely leaked before USF was ready for it, i.e. pending the background check.

If you are seriously asking these questions, you are completely clueless as to the MO of sports media in today's world.

The outlets jumped the gun because they didn't want the other outlets to jump the gun ahead of them .... and you're dead on about Harlan addressing the leaks but good luck to him with that.

It may not have leaked from USF at all.  Apparently Marseillo met with his own players to tell them he was moving on to USF.  Maybe the leak came from that event.

Correct... he also started following some of our players on Twitter... not hard to put 2 and 2 together there if you are a decent reporter.

I don't think he would have told his players the $ value of the contract ...

I rarely if ever comment on this board though I frequent it every day.  I enjoy the comments and the fact that we are all passionate about USF and the athletics programs at the school.  But this thread absolutely takes the cake and is so bush league.  Listen fellow USF lovers, this guy misrepresented himself and kudos to USF for calling him on it.  This doesn't make USF look bad, this makes us awesome.  That our school wants to do it right and anything else will not be tolerated.  If I was a potential coach I would want to come and coach here all the more. We will find a great coach.  Calm down :)
