First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. The Bulls are coming off their first-ever American Athletic Conference series in which they took two of three games from UConn. USF won games one and two of the series behind solid starting pitching including Friday night starter Jimmy Herget throwing seven innings of no-hit ball before ending the outing in the ninth after he surrendered his second hit of the ballgame. Casey Mulholland followed suit on Saturday tossing six scoreless innings and Jordan Strittmatter closed out the contest to pick-up his first collegiate win. SCOUTING FIU FIU enters the contest ranked No. 30 in this week's College Baseball Newspaper poll and are also featured in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association at No. 29. The Panthers stand at 20-4 on the year and 6-3 in Conference USA action after sweeping Marshall over the weekend. As a team, FIU boats a .320 batting average led by catcher Aramis Garcia who is hitting at a .416 clip. The pitching staff has been just as dominant sporting a 1.87 team ERA. Chris Mourelle, who started against the Bulls in the first meeting, has a team best 0.85 ERA while Tuesday's probable starter Mike Ellis sits at a 2.96 earned run average. PROMOTIONS Two-Dollar Tuesday - Certain items at the concession stand will be just $2 QUICK HITTERS • USF and FIU will be squaring off for the second time this season with the Panthers picking up an 8-2 victory on March 12 at USF Baseball Stadium • For the second consecutive week, USF is receiving votes in the NCBWA Top 25 Poll • USF started of American Athletic Conference play by taking two-of-three games from UConn • USF held the Huskies to just seven runs in three games and lowered their season team ERA to 2.57 • Jimmy Herget was named to The American Weekly Honor Roll on March 24 after tossing 8.1 innings of two-hit ball vs. UConn on 3/21, including taking a no-hitter into the eighth inning • Kyle Teaf ranks in the top five in five different offensive categories in the conference: 1st in on-base percentage (.500), 2nd in runs (23), hits (30), & walks (18), 4th in batting average (.366) • Buddy Putnam has reached base safely in 19 straight games, the longest streak this season for the Bulls NEXT UP USF will finally hit the road again after a season long 20 game home stand as they travel to Cincinnati to take on the Bearcats in an American Athletic Conference series.
