TAMPA, MARCH 24, 2014 – USF will host No. 30 FIU for the second time this season at USF Stadium on Tuesday, March 25. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.

The Bulls are coming off their first-ever American Athletic Conference series in which they took two of three games from UConn. USF won games one and two of the series behind solid starting pitching including Friday night starter Jimmy Herget throwing seven innings of no-hit ball before ending the outing in the ninth after he surrendered his second hit of the ballgame. Casey Mulholland followed suit on Saturday tossing six scoreless innings and Jordan Strittmatter closed out the contest to pick-up his first collegiate win.

SCOUTING FIU

FIU enters the contest ranked No. 30 in this week's College Baseball Newspaper poll and are also featured in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association at No. 29. The Panthers stand at 20-4 on the year and 6-3 in Conference USA action after sweeping Marshall over the weekend.

As a team, FIU boats a .320 batting average led by catcher Aramis Garcia who is hitting at a .416 clip. The pitching staff has been just as dominant sporting a 1.87 team ERA. Chris Mourelle, who started against the Bulls in the first meeting, has a team best 0.85 ERA while Tuesday's probable starter Mike Ellis sits at a 2.96 earned run average.

And just like the game earlier this year, USF is getting hammered.

We are terrible...only managed to take 2/3 games from two of the worst teams in the country (Rhode Island and uconn). In all of the tough games we get slaughtered...USF baseball will probably finish bottom half of the conference.
