They just whipped out the check book.

First thing that came to mind as I read that ...

"search committee" does not equal "search firm"

No, but Korn/Ferry is a search firm. They worked on the search.

Search firm Korn/Ferry International also recommended Strong.

If you can't see relevance to the method other schools use when looking for a new head coach, then it won't much matter to guys like you.

If you think the use of a search firm is really relevant to the hire, then...well...I guess it's a good thing you aren't the AD.

So your saying the use of a search firm isn't relative to the hire?  Ok.

Go play your contrarian games with someone else DataBull.  If you don't know the answer to the question you shouldn't feel the need to participate.

I do know the answer, I'm amazed you don't.

Of course a search firm is not relevant.  Lots of successful hires have been made with and without search firms.  Lots of unsuccessful hires have been made with and without search firms.

TBP's favorite AD, Tom Jurich, hired Steve Krgathorpe using the same process he used to hire Charlie Strong.  It isn't the process that is important, it's hiring the right person.

Duh.

Why would I know what they used?  It's a question, not a research project.  And it does matter.  Things don't just happen.  Statistics prove out ability or quality of selection process.  The fact that you once again have sewn yourself into a stupid position is disappointing, but not surprising.

Again, if you can't just answer a question or provide some value, just butt out.
