This way the coaching search is conducted and Harlan only makes the decision based on recommendations given to him on April 7. Its going to be after the NCAA Tourney before USF names a new basketball coach. Harlan starts this coming Monday. Moved it up to get USF a coach ASAP. With the amount of opening popping up, it's a smart move

Hire Howland, Buzz, or Kennedy. Whoever says yes. I can tell you that, and you didn't even need to pay me. But ill take the 100k...cashiers check plz. Kthnx.

Yup some quick googling would reveal that the use of these firms are rather common, even with in p5 conferences.

You guys will complain about anything. Companies of all sizes use search firms, recruiters, etc. It allows candidates to be vetted and allows for the parties to be discrete about it. If Harlan flew to Marquette or Wichita for example, or if candidates flew to Tampa, the media would be all over it.

Harlan should have all the names already.

Guest PCBull14
Who ever we get as long as the last name is Amaker, Manning, or White. I will be happy. If it is Howland or Kennedy we will be looking again in about four seasons. Edited March 19, 2014 by PCBull14

USF loves to spend spend and spend money. I get using a search firm for the AD search.(Since Judy is a busy women, has other things to worry about like the academic side of things ect...) But part of Harlan's job as AD (CEO of the athletic Dept is to hire and fire Coaches). I get we are getting a nice chunk of change from the defectors(Ville,Pitt, Cuse, WVU and the likes) but do we need to spend it all on hiring firms? We are not making the money we made in the BE with our new TV deal and with the way Football is heading (Power 5 and playoffs). (We might need the extra money down the road when we get the invite to a Power 5 conference and have to pay our exit fee)(wishful thinking here). I think Harlan could had or should had made the hire without retaining a hiring firm. Seems like we are pissing away money. Esp with all the money owed to current. former coachers and hiring firms. Just a thought? Based on all the comments on this board, not only yes, but Hell yes. Edited March 19, 2014 by slick1ru2
