Every coach that has been fired (other than for cause) has had some kind of buy out in their contract. I'm sure Leavitt and Cosh are off the books or will be soon. I don't know of any coach that just had his contract run out. Coaches need several years on their contract or it would negatively impact recruiting. What is done is done. USF will keep on firing coaches until they find some FN winners. That is the way it is going to be. So here is hoping that CWT turns it around and that the next hoops coach wins.

Because there's that sudden void when the coach they want fired is actually fired ... It's hard to stop cold turkey like that.

You have to wonder who they will want fired next. Looks like Vega is out of motivation now that Heath is gone. Looks like the Woolard haters are looking for more to pin on him. It is such comich relief to read their funny posts. The Pearl post crack me up the most. I had to make a post to try to help them out as to why USF will never hire him

Dude you're always comparing us to elite programs like this (if my translation is right and you meant Michigan). How would 1 or 2 good seasons land us a deal like them? I don't get your optimism on that sort of thing.

Granted, Phil Knight is an alum, but Nike has profited greatly from Oregon's rise from second-tier to elite status

That's different than firing a guy with a year or two left. On the other hand Prado's contract is expiring at the end of this year so there will be nothing to pay him if we make a change there. I don't think you'll find any D-1 football or basketball coaches, who aren't about to retire, with only one year left on their contract. You may find some with two, but it won't be many. Oregon has greatly benefitted from the largesse that Knight has infused into the Oregon program. Just like Oklahoma State gas risen into the next tier since Pickens has been throwing money at their facilities.
