Now that we're moving on from the Stan Heath era, who are some names of potential candidates to be the next coach?   The only names I've seen mentioned on the board are Howland, Pearl and Hunter.

I don't follow MBB as much as I do football so I'm not as up to date on the hot up and coming coaches.

Anyone with more insight care to throw out some names?  Harlan needs to hit a home run with this hire.

    From Joey Knight:

A few potential candidates for USF's men's basketball job:

Ben Howland (former Pitt, UCLA coach)
Worked with new Bulls AD Mark Harlan at UCLA, where he led Bruins to three Final Fours

    Steve Masiello (Manhattan coach)
Former Kentucky player and Louisville assistant has Jaspers in NCAA tourney

    Craig Neal (New Mexico coach)
Is 24-6 in 1st year at UNM; would be endorsed by UCLA coach (and Harlan friend) Steve Alford

    Jeff Neubauer (Eastern Kentucky coach)
John Beilein disciple has led EKU to four 20-win seasons and berth in upcoming NCAA tourney

    John Pelphrey (Florida assistant)
As a head coach, Billy Donovan's veteran right-hand man led South Alabama, Arkansas to NCAAs

    Donnie Tyndall (Southern Miss coach)
Has 54-15 record in two seasons at Hattiesburg after astounding success at Morehead State

    Pelphrey is an interesting prospect.

I'd like someone with experience getting teams into the tournament.

Was Pelphrey one of the guys that turned us down last time around?

If Harlan moved this quickly, I'm guessing he has somebody in mind.

    We aren't hiring Pelphrey.

I don't know what the hell Knight is smoking but his list stinks and he needs to think bigger then that. One thing I know is the South Florida job will be the best available gig out there and they will have a very impressive list of candidates to choose from. Could not be a better time to have an opening for a Head Coach. the timing is excellent.

Again I will say Pearl, yes he is a risk but we need to take risks.  His violation was for having a kid at a picnic and lying.  If you don't think this happens all the time you are fooling yourself
