TAMPA, MARCH 13, 2014 – USF will host its final home non-conference series of the year when it welcomes Rhode Island to USF Baseball Stadium for a three game set beginning on Friday. Game one is scheduled to get underway at 7:00 p.m. with game two set for 6:00 p.m. on Saturday and game three to begin at 1:00 p.m. Sunday.

The Bulls enter the weekend at 11-6 on the year as they look to end a two-game skid. In their most recent time on the diamond, USF fell 8-2 to No. 19 FIU. The two sides were deadlocked at 2-2 in the seventh before the Panthers put five runs on the board in the frame to secure the win.

SCOUTING RHODE ISLAND

USF has gotten off to a slow start as they enter the weekend with a 2-11 record. Their two wins have come against Florida Gulf Coast and Marshall. The Rams have struggled offensively hitting just .206 as a team. Tim Caputo is the lone URI batter to boast an average over .300 sporting a .500 batting average (10-for-20). On the hill, Rhode Island has a 4.46 team ERA. Lou Distasio is 1-1 with a 3.60 ERA. Brad Applin has the other win for the Rams in relief.
