Official announcement expected Monday http://bit.ly/19Y5Rsjhttp://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/college/knights/os-ucf-quarterback-blake-bortles-declare-nfl-draft-20140105,0,5873144.postNot surprising, after beating Baylor on the big stage. I'm sure UCF has some decent QBs behind him, and a lot of young talent coming back on offense (hoping Storm Johnson & WR Hall go pro early, too). But, I think this is great news for USF...except for possibly helping UCF land a QB recruit this year.

Who cares. Overhyped and overrated, he is not an NFL quarterback. He's making the right choice though, coming back for another year would only hurt his stock, which will never be higher than it is right now. I don't think any of the top quarterbacks in this draft - Bortles, Bridgewater and Manziel - are likely to be franchise guys as pros. The best quarterbacks for value in this draft will come in the second or third round, strictly because guys drafted there carry lower expectations and are likely to land on better teams. Good for USF for next year's matchup.

You know... the kid that WANTED to play for USF but the Skipper passed on until after UCF offered. Edited January 6, 2014 by dogma

Talk about awkward!

I agree with you. They are talking early first round for Bortles, hard to see how returning for his senior year will improve on that. I also agree with your assessment of the QBs in this draft. I think it is interesting that the top QBs in the NFL: Brees, Rodgers, P. Manning, and Brady did not play for spread offenses in college. I think the only top QB that did is Foles, although I'm not certain of Arizona's offense and I'm not sure Foles is a top QB, one good year does not a QB make. When Rodgers was there California ran a West Coast offense the others were all in power run offenses.
