We made Bortles look like he should decide to stay at UCF another year...he faced the youngest secondary in the country, and didn't kill 'em till his last throw (safety failed to follow Bortles eyes, looking at Perriman the entire time).

The escaped the bottom teams, USF, Temple & Memphis.

But, that's what successful teams do...they WIN those games.  One thing UCF does have is confidence and play makers.  If they wind up playing Clemson or the like in a bowl, I see that D getting shredded.  But they will fight, as they did v Lville, SCar and Penn St...as well as everyone on their schedule.

I think UCF was a play or two away from being a 3 loss team, and unranked. But it's silly to say they don't impress...we'd kill to be 10-1.

they were lucky to beat temple . they scored a TD with less than 2 minutes left to tie. they scored 2 TDs with under 3 minutes left against Memphis to win by 7. they barely got by us. yes good teams need some breaks to win close games but that's usually against other good teams or maybe one bad team. they easily could have lost to the bottom 3 teams in our conference as they were losing all three with under 6 minutes to play in the game. they don't impress me. good teams put teams like us, memphis, and temple away easily.

I agree...hence my comment that they escaped 3 bottom teams.  But they find ways to win, and are very talented at the skill positions.

I watched the Temple game...Temple had them dead to rights.  UCF made every play they needed to make, and Temple seemed to fold under under pressure.  Still, good teams win those games.  Bad teams don't.  Look at LSU.  2nd string QB, ball at their 1, down 4.  They drive 99 yards to beat Arkansas near the buzzer.

It just seems silly to point out the flaws on an 10-1 BCS bowl team...which has accomplished more than we ever have.  I don't like UCF at all, but I'm not going to rag on them on "ifs"...that's the same "if" gig we've given UCF for years, so I don't want us to fill THOSE shoes.

we'd kill to be 10-1, sure. but being 10-1 in the AAC doesn't suddenly catapult UCF's program over USF, even with last night's squeaker in MouseTown.

spread it all out on the table, USF's football history and UCF's football history. which is more impressive?

Hard to argue.  And as I noted earlier, if UCF draws a tough foe for a bowl, they will likely get hammered.  But with our luck, they'll get NIU.

such as... ?  conference championships in C-USA and AAC are the only things i can think of. can u think of anything else?

head-to-head: USF

record (win%) vs. AQ conferences/opponents: USF

record (win%) vs. ranked teams: USF

bowl record: USF

ranking (both highest ranking and number of times ranked): USF

i'd also submit wins over FSU and Miami in their own house as pretty big ******* trump cards. UCF is 0-5 vs. the Big 3.

so tell me again how much more UCF has accomplished than USF. i won't hold my breath.

UCF was very lucky once again this season. If USF had even a decent offense, that game is out of reach for the Knights. USF forced all but 1 of those turnovers. We outplayed them but our terrible offense did us in. UCF is highly overrated and without all their luck and late game heroics they would be a 5 loss team right now. They will surely get the **** kicked out of them in the BCS bowl.

I think a 10-1 (11-1 after beating SMU), finishing Top 20 and getting a BCS bowl is more than we've accomplished, yes.

Our history of marquee wins is certainly more impressive, and I've LONG argued that even in UCF's best years prior, their records were padded with wins in crappy conferences (as evidenced by our throttling of them, and Kevin Smith, during what was their best season).

We had huge wins, and I'm proud of our history...but we'd KILL for a season like this.

I'm a die hard Bulls fan, and go to as many games as I can.  I'm not shilling for UCF.  I'm just saying they've impressed this year, all told, and have put together a better season this year than we've ever had.  Not sure if you want to hold your breath much longer, but there you go.
