Excerpt:

"You have to have performance," Aresco said. "We want to start getting the word out who is in our conference, why it's strong in basketball, why it's going to be very strong in football, but in the end you have to perform and I think our schools will. I would be discouraged if I didn't think these guys were trying, and they are — every school."

Financially, the league will be OK, too, having worked out an equitable revenue share that will, because of the defection fees, reportedly net about $20 million incrementally for holdovers UConn, Cincinnati and South Florida. Every school in the league will get a check, too, although it's unclear how much.

Wednesday? Ugh.

We need to institute a rule. No Wed or Thursday games unless both teams are coming off a bye week.

there will be an occasional Wednesday football game, but that Thursday and Friday night games will be big as well as Saturdays. In basketball, 113 of 170 games are going on ESPN platforms, and the CBS games are always huge

If the phone rings, and caller-id shows it's from Bristol, Connecticut, you'll play when and where you're told to.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
