Now that'll bring some energy...

Why is that? (never seen him play)

Hovan was an undersized DT that carved out a long NFL career through sheer energy and relentless hard work. You never know how well a guy translatest to coaching, but he's the kind of high energy guy that Taggart seems to like.

Sounds like my kinda guy. Is he the optimistic type too?

What's a thead?

Shorthand for a Taggart Fathead. It's a T-head.

The ACC coach is most likely NC states DB coach

Even if this is true, it doesn't rule out Randy Shannon. Both Auman and Johnston have reported it; Johnston repeated the possibility as recently as today:

First things first

Taggart will spend this week on recruiting before assembling his staff next week.

A fascinating name to watch: TCU linebackers coach Randy Shannon, the former Miami head coach who was fired following a 2010 home loss against USF. Shannon, named the nation's top assistant in 2001 when he was Hurricanes' defensive coordinator, would be a formidable name to bring back to the state.

Shannon would also help recruiting SE Florida.
