He will struggle and then win 7 games in his best season. We will be talking about some new guy coaching at usf in another three years...

Dont you understand we cannot afford to join the teams who fire their coach every couple of years now. It is going to head that way if we dont make the right hire. He nor houston nutt are right for the job. We are screwed with either.

My vote goes to Taggart. He's got the Harbaugh coaching mentality, which means he'll make our defense stop being soft. Whoever the next coach is needs to make us more physical and bring back a good defense to USF.

Totally agree. Defense has gone from a strength to weakness fast

Butch Davis has ran programs that he left in shambles due to violations and academic scandals...not what we need. We don't want to be the new U as a win at all costs program

Haven't any of you ever started anything from nothing and seen it grow and prosper? I am amazed that we are Americans and that we are even sitting here and talking like that. This has been a country that has thrived on that. I say plant the seed and let's see what sprouts. I don't want to harvest someone elses corn anyway.

Good thing you can see into the future.

And losing players like JPP, McKenzie, Allen, all so easy to replace, has nothing to do with it.

Poor recruiting, poor defensive system and coaching has everything to do with it. Don't make excuses

Please tell me how Davis left Miami in shambles. I'm interested in hearing how building a championship team destroyed the program.

I'm kind of curious, too ... No scandals I could find attributed to him during his tenure at UM and personally cleared by all involved at UNC. Should have been in the MNC his last year at UM before going to Browns. Hopefully, Doug does due diligence on getting facts on potentials, not perception ...

he may have been cleared at unc but he brought in a bunch of kids that cheated academically as well as kids that took money from agents. it wasn't just one or two rouge players. it was quite a few. I believe 11 were suspended and 7 were known to have taken gifts totaling almost $30k from agents. just because he didn't know about it(sure whatever) doesn't mean he wasn't culpable. personally i don't want those type of characters playing for usf. I don't want the altar boys Holtz is bringing in either. there must be some middle ground though.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

    Terry Lucas, 09/26/22
