I wouldn't be upset if WT were hired, but I'd really rather this time around we shoot for giving a great DC or OC his first shot at a HC job. It may be the only way to breed a little loyalty in a world that is seemingly empty of it. I'd like to put on my green and gold glasses and think that maybe, just maybe, somebody might still want to stick with us for a while and make themselves a long-term fixture here. Perhaps its a pipe dream. Makes me miss that aspect of CJL.

then your guy is Willie T or Magee

both of those guys would love USF

sounds like a short list...lets go

I would not be pissed if Taggart were hired if all of the better candidates were either hired or stated that they did not want to come to USF. I would really love to have a great up and coming OC or DC as our guy, but realize that doing that would be an even bigger gamble then going after a Sun Belt coach like Taggart.

I would be pissed if Taggart were hired and we made no effort to get Dykes, Quinn, Petrino, or Jay Gruden... or they were still on the market.

Don't get me wrong I think that Taggart is a good coach, but he is clearly not the best in the candidate pool. The only things I like about Taggart is his youth, his attitude, and the fact he would be very, very, very, very cheap to hire... did I mention he would be cheap.

Just to add Bubba.....I think you are leaving out his main attribute as it pertains to USF. His recruiting. Of the list of all the available coaches.....he would probably have the biggest IMMEDIATE impact in recruiting for USF. Now that is not to say, these other coaches couldn't come in and build good relationships and become good recruiters also....but the MAIN reason people are talking about Taggart is that he already has a relationship from both his playing days and coaching with all of the area HS coaches.

I say go for Taggart. Since we can get him a little cheaper the extra money could be used for a really good DC or OC.

My only concern is his lack of hc experience but if you can turn around the worst 1a school then you can't be that bad.

I love that coach Cal put his 2 cents in. Let's you know right away that HSHC of a winning program can work with this guy.

This guy really seems to have the ear of all the local HS's, not a sole reason to pick someone up, but that's a big change from Skip.
