I thought the Andros buildings were coming down after J/P finished.

Side note- it looks like the Edge is coming down soon. Looks like they're prepping to demolish.

Yes, the Master Plan has all the small dorms around Andros and the Andros facility coming down and JP style dorms going up.

Glad the Edge is getting torn down. Thing has been an eyesore for years.

Drove past The Edge about a week ago; looked like all the glass windows were already knocked out. Wonder if they'll blast the building down with an implosion or if they'll do it old school with a wrecking ball and excavators?

I took this pic a few days ago, but drove by yesterday- you can see all the way through to the other side. Huge pile of debris reaches up to the 4th floor.

This is great news, only issue is that USF is out of space on campus to build any more on-campus housing... hopefully they choose to expand the campus now vs. trying to open another failed satellite campus in BFE that will just end up seceding anyway.

USF needs to expand north and west...

What? There is plenty of room to build more dorms on campus.

Where? The campus is pretty much built out... also I'm not counting the proposed athletics dorms over in the athletics district.

Isnt the plan at some point to demolish the older Andros buildings and build more mega-dorms like Juniper-Poplar?

Yes that is the current plan... they are slated to demolish the old Andro's complex and replace it with some kind of a new dorm and a strip of shops (Publix, restaurants, and some small shops)... there is a rumor that Gray's bookstore will move over to the new shops.

Is there a timeline for this?

Woah... this is my first time hearing about the shops. Publix, really?

I've heard about the shops before. I'm not quite sure how that will work, parking wise. Everywhere else on campus requires a permit to park. What would stop people from parking there all day?

As of 6 months ago, all plans for new housing had been put on hold and had no timeline for being planned. Housing has seen a lot of budget cuts over the last few years.
