I'm thinking about Pinning it to the top ... Can't fathom how you despise Tamplona SOOOO much, but you're on board with this abomination. Because War Flamingo is self explanatory and can stand on its own, even if you don't know about War Eagle .... An all too often response to 'Tamplona' is "What does that mean??" .... Plus, flamingos are Florida, not some obscure reference to a furine country. uuuummmm no. I think of 1980's florida when I here flamingoes. IE Miami Vice.... are we going to ask the student section to dress like Tubbs and Crckett? When I hear flamingos, I think of the godawful stink coming out of the flamingo exhibit at Zoo Atlanta every time I go there.

A War Flamingo has been seen a few games every season since 2009. This is true. I see them every game about 10 rows in front of us. I think it's funny. People ask about it all the time..."what's with the flamingos up there?" ...and I explain the origins of it. I've also seen the green flamingos at tailgates in the parking lot. I giggled and was surprised to find the one.

psteazy Posted August 28, 2012 Group: Member Topic Count: 3 Content Count: 571 Reputation: 81 Days Won: 0 Joined: 02/14/2008 Share Posted August 28, 2012 I'm a huge proponent of the flamingo--most legitimate tradition we have going at this point. (would be hard to refute this) From a non-native Floridian perspective, the symbolism of the flamingo projects lots of cultural sentiments that I (and others, as it's pretty obvious) associate with "old school" South Florida (the region, not the school). If anything I think the "War" should be dropped from reference, as the tradition will be able to prosper with less hang-ups (more fluidly) with this being the case. I think that I may one day come around to it as long as its a green or gold flamingo vs. the neon eye burning pink. A neon or day glow eye burning green or yellow would stand out just as much. I think that if those behind this could change up the colors then more Bulls would likely jump on board. Bulls Heaven used to sell green and gold ones... not sure if the bookstore or Bulls Outfitter is gonna pick this item up now that Bulls Heaven is gone Edited August 28, 2012 by Bubba Bull

The crowd and sponsors could have loads of creative ideas and fun with this symbol. However, you must never have live birds connected with any promo. Just think "WKRP".
