UCF hit with one year bowl ban

How is this a punishment for UCF?

They rarely make bowls and the NCAA Tourney as it is... it would be like banning Vanderbilt from winning the SEC title, or playing in the national championship game...

B Ball hurts, no F ball post season is really no big deal. Missing a Liberty Bowl ( which C-USA can be locked out of anyway if the SEC chooses) or another St Pete Bowl is no big deal

It's hardly a slap on the wrist, but other than the bowl ban...it's mostly the self-imposed sanctions. It'll suck this year, not having much to play for...but then again...nothing to lose, either. Maybe we finally open it up. lol

I have a question, so bear with me. If UCF doesn't qualify for a bowl this year and goes 5-7, does that season still qualify as a bowl ban season even if they wouldn't qualify anyways? Does the bowl ban follow them next year until they qualify for one and win at least 6 games? The penalties don't sound to bad, since this is like a throw away year for them anyways since they're not in the BE yet. A 2 year bowl ban would've really sucked for them. I don't see this really affecting them at all when it comes to recruiting, etc..
