All of USF is in the city and then the border runs up 46th on the west side and I-75 on the east to New Tampa

Actually I knew someone at USF that was hit by a car on 42nd street. He was on a bike and was ambulanced to the hospital. He was fine afterwards but he had a lot of scrapes all over, you could definately see something happened to him. I think it was a hit and run and I don't recall if they caught the person.

Also a student like two or three years ago was hit and killed on BBD on the USF side at the light right before BBD and Fowler. Some of her friends cemented a "ghost bike" into the corner there in her memory, I wonder if it's still there, I remember seeing flowers left there from time to time. Tragic.

The entire area around campus needs to be improved to be more pedestrian and bicycle friendly.

I think all of Tampa needs to be more pedestrian/bicycle friendly

How about the Excellance, is that still around. I lived there for almost a year, but had to break my lease due to mold; First year it was built.

That sucks. Hopefully you didn't have to pay extra to break the lease.

They gave us a difficult time, but under the circumstances we were able to break the lease without penalty.

I moved some of my stuff in there for a few days and then moved out b/c of fleas. Had fun going there for keg parties my freshman year

They've already started gutting the interior. If you drive by, you can see the debris piling up. It will be quite an awesome sight to watch it be demolished. I wonder how close I can get? Maybe they'll let me push the button?

I was hoping that nobody was going to buy Fontana Hall so the University would have to buy it and then in doing so expand the campus north into the "off-campus" student housing area.

In any event USF needs to slap down some serious dough on the 42nd /46th street area... that area is in need of side walks, lighting, and some school spirit of some kind. after they get done with the north side they need to focus all of their enegry on the wastelands to the west. On my way to work this morning I had to take a detour around 131st street because of another drive by... that is the 5th gang shooting this year so far.

They need to improve capacity of 42nd street. With all the additional housing. 42nd is a parking lot from fletcher to skipper, with a 5+ car queue just to get out of any apt complex.

Agreed. USF really needs to get control of this area and make expand it to make it the "North Campus." It's mostly student housing already, so if they can improve it and get some school spirit with banners and such along hte roads, this could really benefit USF.
