I know wikipedia isnt the most reliable site, but it does have a wealth of information used by many people.

I had always thought USF was the 8th largest university in the country by enrollment and when you click on the USF page at wikipedia, it says just that. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_South_Florida

However when you click on that link to view the page listing the largest Univesity campuses by enrollment, we do not make the list.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_largest_United_States_university_campuses_by_enrollment

It appears that they are not including university systems or universities with multiple physical campuses.

USF only makes the list at number 8 based on the largest undergraduate enrollment.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_largest_United_States_universities_by_undergraduate_enrollment

That is not the list people go by however as UCF is number 1, and UF is number 10. Most people consider USF the 3rd largest univesity in the state.

Not that university size truely matters, but it is interesting to see that we are no longer on the lists.

It'd be nice if our Wiki page was updated.

Personally I wouldn't want to go around bragging that my school had the largest enrollment in the country.

Or maybe, because one list is only undergraduates, and the other lists is both graduate and undergraduate students.... well maybe we just have a lot less graduate students than those other universities.

I agree with this 1000000000%

To me... it makes it seem more like a diploma mill if anything.

I find it funny that UCF'ers seem like to boast this stat.

And they constantly claimed it would have benifited them regarding expansion.

Which was incorrect (it was TV market, not class size that was the deciding factor)

I seem to recall Judy making the decision to cap our enrollment around the 40k mark as a way for us to be more selective.

We need to be more selective. The further from the top of this list we get, the better.

We only accept about 45% of students who apply according to USN&WR.

Our main problems are student to faculty ratio and graduation rates.

Yes, a lot of state schools accept like 50 to 60% of applicants.
