I really feel bad for FAU. I always thought they'd be the front-runner to break out between them and FIU....especially with their new stadium and everything. Screwed themselves through their former AD and by also hanging onto "The Pipe Smoker" for too long.

goes to show you how important the size of a school can influence...fiu has mid 40K in enrollment, and i know charlotte is high 30s or something higher than thought. ODU is right up there too. not sure about north texas or LA Tech but those schools are probably in the mid 20s at the least, and they kinda fill an established hole left by houston and SMU.

FAUs enrollment is smaller than FIU...though if i were C-USA, I'd have taken both.

You'd think. But they only get to choose from so many TV markets and can't afford to have two in the same exact market. Then again...it's a pretty big market. I wish they did take FAU...I'd like to see them do well.

Ahhh... the educated UCiF'er..... FAU and FIU are not in the same TV Market. Boca Raton is not considered part of the Miami market.

I dont think what killed them was holding on Schnellenberger

It was probably due to his influence that they got the new stadium

What killed them was their INSANE MURDER ROW schedule

You can do that when you are an established brand... or at least able to be competitive.

FAU isn't either... and they needed the guaranteed $$$ games to help pay the initial cost of the stadium

But it's hard to gather fan/community support when every year you star off 0-3 pre-conference (and getting practically slaughtered each time.)

That cost them fans

And now a conference.
