Let us now posture and spend $20k to rent out an empty NFL stadium where our loyal but small fan base can watch a practice scrimmage.  ???

Doesn't that sound more like something that UCF would do than USF? I'm glad that people in the athletic department have some common sense here, and by having this scrimmage on campus the attendance should actually go up by attracting the students who probably wouldn't attend otherwise.

Another point is, many have posted that holding it on campus would lead to increased student involvement.  I think that incents alums as well to return to campus, that might not otherwise go to RJS.  I would think that students, alums and campus faculty and staff would more likely attend a function on campus, then attend the same function at RJS - but that's just me, I think we'd do better with an on-campus stadium also.

By the way, I thought this would be about our logos being listed on the Big east site as official members.  When I went to verify them still there, there is a recruiting poll on the new Big East football teams.

Which BIG EAST football program had the best recruiting class?

Bulliever...That Poll was mentioned on the Recruiting board sometime ago. We started out at 2% and we got it to where we were above 50%.

and what were we doing the last 2 years?

IF we were on the soccer field and now we are going to rjs because of the move to the BE then your point would be well taken.

However we were in cusa and was at ray jay now the BE BCS big boys have let us play we are now going small time with this decision. that is how i and many would interpret that change.

you did not mind spending $20K when you were getting 600K from cusa but now you are getting $ 6milion from the bE you won't spend the $20K...there is a disconnect!

It's apparent that simply holding the game in a larger venue is not, in and of itself, going to propel the football program to greater levels of popularity and notoriety. The lack of attendance at the Spring game the past two years should be evidence of that.

Until the level of fan awareness surrounding the Spring game (and related events) is raised significantly, the Athletic dept. is wise to give pause to the idea of holding the game off-campus.

The issue is awareness of the Spring game.  marketing needs to do a better job of getting press on the event.  the mere fact that season ticket mailers go out without any mention of the spring game is evident of a serious disconnect in getting the game marketed.

I said it before, I'll say it again.  Moving the spring game to the soccer field is a bad move.  This event should be geared up with other items being added to it.  We need to expand our season ticket base, and this event should be part of that effort.  $20k is worth the expense as part of marketing season tickets.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
