Just wanted to tell everyone that about 12 of us diehard Bulls are here in New Orleans where we saw the women's team beat Tulane at Fogelman last night, and are heading to Hadesburg... er Hattiesburg tomorrow for what will be our final sojourn to that sprawling metropolis as a member of C-USA.

We were up 26-9 early, gave it all back and Tulane actually took a two point lead if I remember correctly, but we executed down the stretch, forced some key turnovers late, and made clutch free throws.  Nalini Miller gave it her best to try and play hurt, but was noticeably limping in the first half before Jose shut her down.  Let's hope she can finally get healthy here soon.  Jessica Dickson led the way as usual, and a great game from Sharon Cambridge subbing for Miller in the post.

As for the away-from-basketball stuff, we're staying at the Sheraton two blocks from Bourbon Street on Canal, and two blocks from the Harrah's Casino... in other words The Crossroads of Nirvana.  We all made a sidetrip to Biloxi today (profitable for just two of us, but one of them was me:)), and are heading out this evening for even more Green and Gold debauchery.  I just wish I had brought my USF beads!

Tomorrow is Cafe du Monde before we head to So. Miss., then to the airport and home.  The Lady Golden Eagles average 25 turnovers a game, and we press for 40 minutes.  Over/under on home team turnovers is 31.5 we figure.  Hopefully it will be a sweet goodbye from us to our favorite fellow C-USA member.

I'm writing this from the USM library, where we're printing our boarding passes and celebrating victory, as we just watched our Bulls win in style!  The players came over and said thanks to us for coming afterwards, which was very nice of them.  However a few of the Southern Miss fans didn't appreciate us interrupting their alma mater (which we didn't even know was playing).  Ezria Parsons rolled her ankle late in the game, so lets hope she's OK.  Career day for Sharon Cambridge, who played outstanding and was 9-10 from the floor we think (8-8 at one point).  She had an outstanding weekend, and might be the answer with Miller out hurt (who didn't play today).  Dickson also made some clutch shots as per usual.  Southern Miss was better than we thought, but we played very well and look ready for the stretch run here.  If we stay healthy and continue to play this kind of basketball, a good run in the conference tourney might not be far behind.

Ya know Mike I thought of that once we already got there... this was a last second thing for me, as I was asked to go late Wednesday and left Friday.  Would have loved to have had a locals tour of the Quarter and better restaurants!

By the way, they really love their Bayou Bengals down there... saw LSU stuff everywhere in stores and on people walking around.

Act like you’ve been there before. Turns out, for many of us, we haven’t been there before.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
