GAME NOTES: The South Florida Bulls try to snap a two-game slide tonight when they tangle with the Georgia Southern Eagles in non-conference action at the St. Pete Times Forum in Tampa.

The Bulls opened the season with three straight wins against the likes of Vermont, Marist and Florida Southern, but then the team was taken down by Old Dominion in overtime (68-66), and also bowed to Penn State on Sunday (53-49) as the offense struggled to get into gear during the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame Tipoff at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.

In a brutal offensive display, USF actually led by as many as six points five minutes into the first half against the Nittany Lions, but both teams finished the period with just 17 points, the Bulls a feeble four made field goals.

Overall the Bulls shot just 34.1 percent from the floor and 5-of-20 beyond the arc, all while dealing with 19 turnovers in a tightly contested meeting. Blake Nash and Toarlyn Fitzpatrick came off the bench to register 14 and 11 points, respectively, the latter clearing a team-best 10 rebounds as well in the loss. The starting five was held to just 19 total points as Victor Rudd made just two of his 10 field goal tries. Nevertheless, it is Rudd who appears at the top of the scoring list for the Bulls with his 14.0 ppg, even though he is now shooting just 38.5 percent from the field. Defensively USF continues to fight hard with just 58.0 ppg allowed.

If the Eagles can keep the scoring down they might have a shot at a minor upset tonight, but it also means the USF starters have to again come up small just as they did against Penn State.

My Gosh...just to reference that there is a possibility of an upset(minor one it may be) is very disappointing and says a lot about the state of the program.

It is what it is. We are a lousy team. Probably will continue to be until the team gets new leadership.
