USF to play Notre Dame

Feb. 11 - Notre Dame vs. #21/NR South Florida, 4 p.m.

Notre Dame and South Florida will be meeting for the eighth time, with the Bulls holding a 4-3 advantage in the series. The last meeting was a 5-4 victory by South Florida at home in 2003. The Irish will be seeing a lot more of the Bulls, as South Florida is one of three current Conference USA teams (DePaul, Louisville) who will join the BIG EAST and compete in softball next season.

Soon we will be playing Notre Dame in just about every sport.

Once they get used to playing us in just about every sport and we are competitive with them, then they will be more amenable to play us in football as well. They are being hard pressed by the Big East to schedule more football games with its members and are in the process of doing so.

Notre Dame will never play us in football unless they have 5 horrible years the next 5 seasons and then join the Big East.

Never as an independent will ND play us, unless we are paired against them in a bowl.

Never is a long time.

The perception of USF over the next decade will change dramatically as we start winning BE Championships, BCS Bowl games, and become a Top 50 National Research University with over 50,000 students.

We will then be a much more attractive opponent for Notre Dame
