When do the freshmen get in?

I know school starts in the fall, but when do the players get in?

I'm asking because I would like to know if Grothe and Hill have real chances to fight for the starting job as the season begins (sorry, I'm a basketball guy!).

Here's my real question:

Can we fix the offensive woes of the last two seasons?

I'd inagine those freshman will start working out with the existing members of the football program in the early summer.  Obviously given NCAA regulations, they won't be working with the coaches the first couple months.

I think we can expect to see some improvement on offense, with one caveat - it all depends on the QB.  I think we'll be okay on the o-line, we've got Hall still, and we've got a heck of a stable of receivers.  If we can get our QB to settle down, play with confidence, and use his head, we can do well this year.

i have no confidence in our offensive coaches

we will be better because of talent but you will see same bone head play calling and offensive schemes as long as we have same coaches

the good news is that if we don't  compete for a bowl i think the staff will be gone

With a new AD, most like to bring in their "own" people.

Only time will tell smazz.

Same bone head posts.  Little has changed.

How is that good news?  Teams generally get worse when there is an entire coaching staff turnover.

No one has definitively answered basketbull's question.  When do the freshmen first step foot on campus and can they begin using the athletic facility right away on their own?

How did this turn into a coaching staff turnover thread?

Well, last year they "officially" came on August 8th.

I think this year the NCAA is giving an extra week of practice, so if that's true figure they will show up around August 1.

I know players work out among themselves "unofficially" on the practice fields near the athletic facility starting in July.

I assume that once a recruit finishes up with his HS he heads over to USF to get an early jump on his competition. I presume they can use the facilities but I don't know that for a fact.

HP, that brings up a good question.  Can any athlete use the facility anytime they want or does it have to be during ncaa sanctioned period for their sport's practice and season?

Yes.  Technically the player is suppose to enroll first, but many get to campus early and get acclimated, and in most cases settled in.  They can begin with the S&C program as soon as they graduate from HS, and their transcripts are being processed with the University.  I know a few guys like Peyton started in late May.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
