Original USF Football Player Named As Lakewood Coach

ST. PETERSBURG - Former University of South Florida and Clearwater High standout running back Otis Dixon was named as the new football coach at Lakewood High School. The position is Dixon's first head coaching job; he had served as offensive coordinator at both Clearwater and Apopka. He returned to Clearwater last season to serve as defensive coordinator.

Upon graduating, Dixon held the Bulls' season record for touchdowns (nine) and was second on the career rushing touchdown list with 17. He was named the team's offensive MVP his senior season.

Dixon was part of the ``Original Group'' of 14 in the school's first recruiting class who played their entire college careers with the Bulls. Dixon also holds the mark for most points scored by a non-kicker (120), tied with Marquel Blackwell, DeAndrew Rubin and Rafael Williams.

Dixon replaces Brian Bruch, who was dismissed after making an insensitive remark to a player in the Spartans' final game last season.
