Unless if the new TV deal the Big East gets is going to be much much worse than the B12. The BE's tv deal is going to be pathetic, because the BE is goind to have lost all of their talent to other conferences. ESPN, ABC, NBC, CBS and Fox aren't going to want to spend huge money on the likes of UCF, Houston, SMU, etc. I would imagine any tv deal will most likely resemble a renegotiated Conference USA tv contract. If we go to the Big 12, we triple our TV money. I'd think the costs of going west will be more than offset by an extra $12M or so. I will say this-we will be an average team in the Big 12, barring a shocker season where we manage to run the table and capitalize with a huge talent pool. Not to mention-if we're in the Big 12 and UCF is in the Big East, we can continue to point and laugh at them.

What makes that much difference if you have a 3 hour flight to Louisville or a 4 hour flight to Stillwater?? 1 hour. It's not ridiculous. no direct flights to oklahoma city from tampa. oklahoma city is 60 miles from stillwater. you're talking about a 6 or 7 hour trip at best. for a basketball player to leave after a 7 pm central time game on a wednesday would be a nightmare. with the time change and perfect flight schedule they would be lucky to make it back in time for a 9 am class the next day. No direct flights as of today, you mean. yes. you think the airlines add a direct flight to okc to accommodate our olympic sports? even if they do it's a 4 hour flight plus 1 hour drive. still makes the trip 5 hours at best. No way it's 4 hours to OKC. TPA to DFW is about 2 and a half hours. One strange thought though. Since everyone was shocked we backed the decision to admit UCF to the Big East, maybe we did that since we know we're moving out too?
widerberg Posted October 28, 2011 Group: Member Topic Count: 0 Content Count: 959 Reputation: 136 Days Won: 1 Joined: 12/21/2007 Share Posted October 28, 2011 Not going to happen, guys. Wish it was. But no. A writer yesterday (of course, don't remember who) broke down a bunch of realignment issues and the main point he made that I think would kill what we're talking about here is the going to 12 teams thing. The Big12's TV contract was for 12 teams. When two left, they renegotiated the TV and ended up being paid the same number as when they had 12 teams--i.e., each school got more $$$$. If they go back to 12, they're not going to get any more money in a TV deal. Snd if they keep the same money, that's two more mouths to feed on the same budget. The Big12 schools are not going to go for that. So, It doesn't sound like they're going higher than 10 teams, because of the above and because daddy (Texas) wants to stay at 10.
