AP and Coaches will never vote for USF again. We're a joke to them.

The last few years it's the same old crap.  Win a bunch of games in the beginning including a marque OoC game and we storm up the polls.  Then as always, lose to teams that travel to games on a short bus.  After week 5 when we were ranked a top 15 team I looked at the AP poll and only ONE writer didn't have us in the Top 25, David Just of the Lubbock Journal. I thought he was crazy until I read his column. He said we were a "broken record".

I have a feeling we'll be running into a lot more of this in the years to come.

The subject is ridiculous. It should be in the meltdown thread.

Of course they would--we just have to win games.

If you're saying we'll never win consistently, that's a different subject all together!

I think there was another thread discussing what a sham rankings were.  Perhaps Bulls football is too.  We're made for each other.

Really, rankings are a sham.  I don't care much for the process.  I was one of the voices in 2007 that thought we were wildly, wildly over ranked at #2? Number two in the country?  Are you serious?

Teams get ranked that don't belong all the time.  The opposite is true too.  Good teams sometimes get left out or have to wait for someone to lose to move in.  Just a bunch of garbage and probably the least of our concerns.

My point is pollsters will be reluctant to vote for us, even if we were legitimate because of our history of collapse.  We are the ones who can never finish the season ranked at our highest point.  We suffer the embarrassment and ridicule of being a farce.

That can be said about many teams.  Most want to be the first to recognize an upstart and we got votes because of it.  We'll see how it goes.

usf will have to go undefeated and win at least one conference game to be ranked again unless game one or two is against at top 20 opponent and usf wins

rankings should be based on the quality of season a team is having.

that's somewhat quantifiable.

they shouldn't be based on a voters subjective opinion of how good they think a team is.

we were not the 2nd best team in the country in 2007 but we did have the 2nd best season up until that point (actually i thought our resume was better than ohio states at the time)

Considering the fact that we were overrated, I guess that isn't too much of a problem.  The "ranking" thing is not as cool anymore because we have been there and done that.

Now it is all about getting something done.  If we win a conference trophy, I don't care if there is a number next to our name (there probably would be at that point).  Until then, I honestly could care less about a number until we are deep into our conference.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
