FAMU Band

Don't get me wrong here, they have an awesome band and put on a hell of a half time show.  That said...

Just because you have a good band doesn't mean you can play whenever the hell you want.  Them playing while the ball was in play was just downright disrespectful.  Bands are supposed to stop playing while the FOOTBALL GAME is going on.  That's what we're (most of us) are there to see right? Being in the South endzone, right in their firing range, was really annoying.  I couldn't hear the announcer, whistles blowing, anything having to do with the game because they wouldn't shut up.  They don't have a football team and just a band, maybe they should go to a band competition and bring their football team along instead of a football game.

they also played while they were introducing Selmons family and you couldn't hear them announce it. Pissed me off.

You wouldn't have felt that way if you were in the South.  It was really bad!  I don't care about between plays, but not while the game is going.

I think the stadium sound people had some responsibility as well. During the coin toss with the Selmon family, the commercials still played AND the FAMU band played on. At least I think that was going on it was hard to tell with all the noise!

If anyone criticizes USF for running up the score tell them it was pay back for what they did to our BAND!!!

By the way, as long as I am on a roll,  what the hell is with the cannons firing? It makes no sense. We might as well throw some beads!

So much for the kickoff cheer.  When the ball was kicked tonight, both bands were playing and PA music.  It was insane and no one stopped until the ball was received.

Agreed.  the whole night was totally f'd up (except for the Bulls play) with both bands, the pa announcer, the pa music, ads, etc.  There were also ads on the screen during the national anthem - I don't think I've ever seen that before.  Many times there was pa music, announcer and both bands playing - trying to listen to any one thing was a total cluster.

Although it's the same sound, it's not the actual cannons from the ship firing.  It's a box up in the upper deck above the ship.

Boy some of you have nothing better to do than complain.

I doubt FAMU meant any disrespect to the Selmon family.  While  many USF fans are tuned into the events that honor LRS, I bet FAMU was not aware of what was scheduled for the coin toss.

HOT has played while the ball was in play during road games.  I know since I have been at those games and sat next to the band.  Other schools do it as well.

Commercials during the national anthem, well that was lame.  But what do you expect?  This is corporate "free enterprise" America, and bills need to be paid.  If you did not like it, then contact the sponsors and complain to them.  Contact the stadium as well.  Maybe they will not be so greedy next time.
