Could our touchdown in the first 8 seconds of the game be an NCAA record? I can't think of a way to score quicker other than to run down the field in a straight line.

It should be reported as tying the record. In 2007 2009, Nate Allen returned a fumbled kickoff 3 yards scoring at the 8-second mark:
