I know we are off to a great start, but is has been only 1 game.

I rewatched college game day and they showed an interesting stat.  Holtz has not made it through unbeaten in September since 2002.  9 seasons.

Fortunately, we have a light schedule in Sept (not to take Ball State, UTEP or FAMU lightly) just that we should be at an advantage at home against those opponents.  I know, any team can win on any day, and Ball State proved they are no joke by beating IU last week.  Who knows.

But further more, we have 4 of our first 5 big east games on the road, not a great schedule for us.

I know, no team goes unbeaten.  Just a question of when will the hammer come down, and when it does, how much will the polls punish us?  How far do we drop if we lose to say, Pitt or UConn or Cinci or some other BE team.

I think for USF, we'll need to make it past 5-0 or 6-0 for us not to get completely wiped off the rankings.  I think if we make it into November undefeated, we should be playing our best ball and I think the polls would be more forgiving if we were to lose.  Our history is to win the first few games and then lose the next 3-4.

Just my  :2cents  It's going to be tough.

Good points.  I cannot imagine a slide like we had in the past, ie 3 of 5 games, but I can see at least one game in the road setting for us, or possibly 2 of those 5.

I guess if we can get into November with 2 losses, and win in Nov, we should still be ranked....

I just am so happy we have an *easy remaining non-confrence schedule.

Not going to lie, Ball State has been weighing heavily on my mind all day. I think if we can get by them, then we can last through September.

We actually play Pitt in September also thanks to the miracle of Thursday night football. Skip's going to have to come out of September 5-0 if he's making it through the month.

...and some teams DO go unbeaten. Until we lose one, in my mind, we have a shot at the National Title. After the first loss, I'll dial it down a notch, but, anything less than perfect is not on my mind right now.

September has not historically been our problem.  October is our trouble month.  But this was all under Leavitt; under Holtz we've shown that we're working on writing a new chapter and killing old streaks.

I am watching the presser right now and he said the players are actually disappointed about how they played Saturday and they came in Monday on their day off to watch film for Ball State, I like the sound of that!

I thought the same thing! Great to see the players super motivated this year, we will need that motivation to thwart Ball State

Since 2005 USF has only won 9 of 21 games in October.  The good thing is USF only has 2 games in the month of October; UConn (Away) and Cincy (Home).
