RICHARDSON [email protected] Published: Feb 2, 2005 TAMPA - Brandon senior Zaronn Cann had not played in more than a month and a half, but he returned to Plant on Tuesday, the place where he tore ligaments in his left knee in January 2004. Cann (6-foot-5, 255 pounds) showed few signs of rust and came off the bench to score 15 points and grab six rebounds in Brandon's 66-37 victory against Plant (7-10). Though playing a little slower than normal, Cann dominated under the basket, put the ball on the floor and drove the lane, showing he was not afraid of contact. ``I feel a lot better now. I have been working out the last four weeks at USF and my knee is getting a lot stronger,'' said Cann, who signed with USF. ``I have a new brace and I didn't feel any pressure on my leg, and I was able to get a good push when I had to jump.'' Senior guard Aubrey Brown jumped all over the Panthers in the first quarter. Brown scored 13 points in about four minutes for the Eagles (19-2), ranked No. 7 in the Class 5A state poll. He made two 3-pointers and helped guard Korri Ennis pressure the Panthers into numerous first- quarter turnovers. Brandon began the game on a 9-2 run, and after Plant narrowed the score to 9-7, the Eagles outscored the Panthers 19-3. Plant trailed 28-10 after the first quarter and was held to six second-quarter points to fall behind 43-16 at halftime. Plant's Ben Mathews finished with 10 points and was the only member of his team to score in double figures. ``We were totally undisciplined. We couldn't handle the pressure,'' Plant coach Mike Phillips said. ``We were playing a really good high school team, and this game showed us that we need to get better.''http://sports.tbo.com/sports/MGBCV4W1P4E.html
