In scoring defense, USF finished 22nd with 20.0 ppg.  But let's see…who did USF's defense face…

Total Offense Ranks:

Stony Brook: N/A

Florida: 83

Western Kentucky: 98

Florida Atlantic: 107

Syracuse: 97

West Virginia: 67

Cincinnati: 32

Rutgers: 114

Louisville: 71

Pittsburgh: 73

Miami: 31

UConn: 95

Clemson: 88

Against the 2 teams in the top 50 in total offense USF surrendered 590 yards and 353 yards to Cincinnati and Miami, respectively. And you return - what? - 6 people from that "great" D? By the way, ND's defense was ranked 1 spot below USFs, surrounding 20.4 ppg but played 6 teams with top 40 offenses. Ruh-roh.

And let's take a moment to talk about BJ Daniels. He completed 58% of his passes, with 11 touchdowns and 14 interceptions in 12 games.

His high-points:

vs. Stony Brook, 15-22 for 264 yards, 2 TDs, 0 INTs, 59-14 win

vs. Florida Atlantic, 14-19, 155 yards, 1 TD, 0 INTs, 31-3 win

vs. Cincinnati, 12-16, 286 yards, 2 TDs, 0 INTs, 38-30 win

vs. Rutgers, 10-17, 149 yards, 2 TDs, 1 INT, 28-27 win

vs. Louisville, 11-19, 87 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT, 24-21 win

vs. Clemson 20-27, 189 yards, 2 TDs, 1 INT, 31-26 win

Low-points

vs. Florida, 5-20, 84 yards, 1 TD, 4 INTs, 14-38 loss

vs. Western Kentucky, 7-11, 57 yards, 0 TD, 1 INT, 24-12 win

vs. Syracuse 9-23, 124 yards, 0 TD, 1 INT, 9-13 loss

vs. West Virginia, 20-30, 119 yards, 0 TDs, 3 INTs, 6-20 loss

vs. Pittsburgh, 15-29, 132 yards, 0 TDs, 1 INT, 10-17 loss

vs. Miami, 4-12, 39 yards, 0 TD, 0 INT, 23-20 win (OT) (only played in first half, injury)

In his "high point" games (all wins), he completed 69% of his passes (82-120), for 1130 yards (9.8 ypa) with 10 TDs and 2 INT. Pretty good numbers - but his three biggest games came against Stony Brook, Florida Atlantic, and Cincinnati (they of putting up 590 yards on your defense), and none of whom finished with a winning record.

In his "low point games" he was abysmal, completing only 48% of his passes (60-125), for 555 yards (4.4 ypa) for 1 TD and 10 INTs.

His good games came against the combination of Stony Brook (6-5 in 1AA in 2010), Florida Atlantic (4-8 in 2010), three Big East bottom feeders (Cincinnati, Rutgers, and Louisville, who went a combined 14-20 in the regular season) and a Clemson team who finished 6-7 in 2010.

So you're thinking, "Yeah, but that guy can really run! He's fast!" Yeah, maybe. But he makes up for his few good runs by holding on to the ball and taking sacks. Over the 2010 season, he ran 112 times for 237 yards (2.07 yards/carry). Denard Robinson (6.6 ypc) he is not.

But, of course, you can always proudly pound your chests about victories against Clemson (the barely-eligible bowl team - thanks to wins against North Texas and Presbyterian - that USF 'smoked'), the thrilling 3-pt overtime victory against Miami, and the dismantling of Stony Brook and that other directional Florida school.

I'll probably be too drunk on Saturday to come here, but I'll be back.

So what you are saying is we shouldn't even show up and just stay home because we are so horrible?? Enough of this crap about stats and who beat who. Stop talking about things that have nothing to do with game and lets play football.

Different year, different team.

We realize we were very cellophane-esque last year.

We weren't expecting to have a good year last year...and it turned out alright.

This year we ARE expecting to have a good year...NOT because of the successes of last season.  But because of the CONSISTENCY with the coaching staff and players.

We haven't had a year where the Offensive Coordinator has been the same in I dont know how long.

We had a WHOLE NEW philosophy(Holtz &Co.) last year that took half the year to get going.

With a whole season under their belt, and a very healthy and promising(from reports) off-season/camps this year, WE(as semi-intelligent football fans) expect our team to hit the ground running...and look more like USF teams of say 4-5 years ago when we would go into rough places against highly ranked teams and BEAT those teams.  (WVU, Auburn, FSU, Kansas)

We'll see Domer...but...I think this game is evenly matched.

I'll be there to scream my head off for my boys!

GO BULLS!!!

LOL

I assume you're a ND fan ... nice try on the trolling.  Sorry you posted a completely forgettable thread, because none of this means anything anymore.  I'm sure if USF wins, I'll probably forget you ever posted on here while I celebrate.  Good luck Saturday.

P.S.  Please be sure to send a copy of this to Brian Kelly so he can go over it.   :loser

I'm actually not saying you're horrible. You're not. Not at all, actually.

But reading this board, I've never seen so many over-confident fans in my life. Even ND fans on other boards are less confident, and everyone says they're the arrogant ones.
