The St. Louis Rams have placed CB Jerome Murphy (ankle) on Injured Reserve, ending his 2011 season.

Jerome Murphy - DB - Rams

Rams placed CB Jerome Murphy on injured reserve with a fractured ankle, ending his season.

The 65th overall pick in the 2010 draft, Murphy was expected to challenge for a nickel and dime back role before breaking the ankle early in camp. He had one pick and 21 tackles in 14 appearances as a rookie. Murphy's placement on I.R. leaves St. Louis' fifth cornerback job up for grabs. The Rams will likely look for an alternative at final cutdowns this weekend.
