I was surprised the local Phoenix station will have the game live.

Yes- ND is on EVERY NBC affiliate across the country.

biggest reason why they would never join a conf.  why pass up a sweet deal like that to share ESPN revenue and regional exposure with 11 or 15 other schools?

if Notre Dame is on the road its possible they could end up on ABC, CBS, ESPN depending upon which conference they are playing but all home games are contracted to be on NBC.

however, there has been some discussion about possibly moving some games to Versus if the program continue to slides.  Of course it would be a long shot but it has been talked about.

Versus is going to be called NBC Sports Channel soon though.  Similar to Fox Sports.

With that TV contract, you can't blame them for wanting to remain independent. Who knows how long it will be able to last.

their contract is with the broadcast television network

nationwide your NBC broadcast channel will have the game
