On one hand smazza mocks UCF as a junior college or something less.  Smazza also rails on USF that we should only play the best. And now we should play UCF?  It doesnt add up.

You couldn't have put it any better than that

He does actually make a point.  To casual fans and those not directly invested in the programs like we are, perception can be reality.  Perception is the reasion we got into the BIG EAST.  We were (still are) a program in its infancy and the perception was we were a sleeping giant and the potential was limitless.  To casual fans there is no difference, yet.  They confuse the two of us, and without recent head to heads they see 10 wins and assume they are as good if not better.  I don't live in state, and there is confusion.  Casual fans don't realize who is who, and many times don't even realize we are in the BIG EAST.  Thus they can spin their 10 win season, that didn't produce a win over a .500+ team, into a top 25 ranking and buzz that they can compete in the BIG EAST.

Even as fans on this board we can't help but compare or take a shot at them.  If they are beneath us they aren't an issue.  I doubt when FSU fans or UF fans looked at the polls this morning they even looked where they were, but within minutes it was mentioned here.  On other sites we allow the banter as well.  Until our fan base stops trying to maintain #4 they will continued to be compared to us.  Big companies do this all the time.  They are content with being #3 and being with the big boys that they are only content with fending off #4, and eventually they can't tread water any longer and they loose ground.  The seperation is there.

So basically what you're saying is that smazza accidentally got it right?  Because I'm pretty sure there's no way he would have come by this opinion honestly.

Are you surprised that a Smazza post defies logic?  How long have you been on this board?  Oh yeah, you created it and wasn't he the first poster?    ;D

and they have proven that how?

By beating Georgia, duh!!   ::)

Really? That's all it takes? One win over a loser team and they're better than USF? Really?

I guess everyone has a right to their own opinion.

Thankfully they don't have the right to change the facts.

There really is only one answer to this rather simpleton statement:  If UCF does join the Big East.  If they are really ready to compete with the BE, then they'll be able to prove it.  Also, if USF remains in the Big East, it will make sense to play UCF then and not before.

Smazza should be much more concerned about FSU, UM and Florida NOT adding more games against USF. As matters stand, it won't be very long before NONE of those teams appear on our future schedules.

To replace them, I don't think that UCF is the answer, but it could very well be the choice USF makes. So, he might end up getting his wish, but at a big price.
