why does Buchalter have C Hill at 53?? b/c of his passing ability?  I don't know, but based on that one video of him running like a freak all over the field, i would think he would rank higher

It is nice to see Grothe getting more respect, well deserved respect

Maybe you should ask why Rivals has Matt Grothe as #93 since he just came within a hair of being voted Mr Football for ALL of Florida.

I've heard someone say that Buchalter's list is very central florida centric.... and since Hill is panhandle... he doesn't get a fair chance on Bill's list, whereas Grothe is from lakeland, so he gets visibility.

Grothe being #93 on Rivals is just plain dumb.

Gene Coleman should be a Rivals 3 star recruit. He was a preseason JUCO All American this year and had a great season. He had two interceptions in the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP game which his team WON! It doesn't seem they even know he is from FLORIDA, as they have him listed as being from Miss. I think they do a very cursory background check on players who aren't on their radar.

Most of the chatter about unbeaten Pearl River CC involves the Wildcats' offense, which averages some 440 yards and 40 points per game.

That prolific offense leaves the PRCC defense on the field a lot, and preseason All-America candidate Gene Coleman is one big reason the Wildcats' D has more than held its own.

The 6-foot-1, 250-pound linebacker from Lake Wales, Fla., has made 53 tackles, including 12.5 for losses and 5.5 sacks. He has forced three fumbles and recovered one.

He runs the 40 in the 4.6 range and plays with a mean streak.

"I coached against him in high school (at Haines City, Fla.)," said PRCC coach Tim Hatten. "I thought we might as well get him to play with us up here."

Coleman originally signed with South Florida, but Hatten said he expects Coleman to get a lot of other offers.

Coleman is expected to graduate in May.

By the way, Pearl River is NJCAA National Champions:

Coleman had 2 interceptions in the Championship game.

Quote:Then The River’s floodgates opened. Six minutes later, Wildcat linebacker Gene Coleman of Lake Wales, Fla., picked off his first of two interceptions in the game  his only two picks of the season  at the 45 and sped down to the six. Oliver hit Brackins with a TD pass on first down and St. John’s extra point gave the Wildcats the lead for good at 14-7 with 7:20 left in the half.

Does anybody know if Rivals will put Cedric Hill on the USF 2005 commit list? Although he did sign an LOI with Miami in 2004, it seems to have been rejected and he will thus have four years of eligibility left at USF. In such a case shouldn't he be counted by them?

Hill was a first team 2003 Georgia 5A ALL-STATE player, like his teammate Carlton Williams who signed with USF last year.

That really made me scratch my head how both players only managed two stars, yet they were first team all-state in GA at the highest competition level.  Both played and started in the FL-GA game, and in the GA All-Star game.   For some reason GA has a biased toward those Valdosta kids, it wouldn't surprise me if it's because of the support they have and their amazing facilities.  Maybe some underlying jealousy.  Bank it that both players will be major contributors and possibly stars for USF.  That HS has kicked out some major talent, many have starred in the NFL!
