Do wins vs non-scholarship 1-aa teams count?

No. USF learned that very painfully in 2003.

That is a shame. I'm sure a lot of program in the state would have enjoyed getting a local 1-aa team to schedule.

I don't know the answer to the non-scholarship question (though I'd be willing to bet the answer is that they count the same as a win over any other FCS school), but this was definitely not what happened to USF in 2003. Both Nichols State and Charleston Southern, who USF played that year, are scholarship programs. USF couldn't count them both toward bowl eligibility because FBS teams can never, under any circumstances, count more than one win per season over FCS teams. In fact, at that point in time, schools could only count a win over an FCS school like once every three years or something like that, the rule was changed when the schedule went to 12 games permanently.

When will University of Tampa restart their team? They had a pretty interesting history and it would be a lot of fun to see some of these older programs come back to life and play against each other. UT is DIV II, but if they ever moved up it would make for a fun little cross-town rivalry with us.

UT would have been in the ACC if it kept it's program. Freakin sad story. Plus the seed of satan(Hugh Culverhouse) had a lot to do with the demise of that program.

I think we should give Stetson an invite to the Big East immediately.

Even though local High Schools produce better reporting, this article is more about the future of Argos football:

good for them!  wish them luck similar to ours.  gives another nice alternative to athletes in that area.

Florida Gulf Coast in Fort Myers is already heading down that path, and I heard University of North Florida is getting ready to do the same.  Seems like there will be a lot of football teams in Florida.
