Well ok, but still did we ever win a conference title against the same weak competition in the CUSA.  No we didn't.

UCF didn't play in anywhere near the same type of C-USA that USF. We had a Top 10 Louisville team there, a Top 25 TCU team while we were there. Cincinnati had some good seasons as well.

The year UCF won C-USA we beat them by 52 points. The year they lost C-USA we beat them by 17 and the score wan't even indicative of how badly we beat them then.

I love this line from the newspaper:

But I never want to hear another teacher at Villanova saying they are in it for their love of teaching young people.

>:D

To be fair, that quotation is from the blogger, not the newspaper.

You're right.  Good catch.  Still a funny line though.

What's the thinking behind another possible B10 raid?  Is it going to happen, or are they staying pat with just Nebraska for now?  Only reason I can think to add a 10th member soon would be if they are expecting another imminent raid.

The rumor mill is that the Big11 is eye balling one of the following Big East schools as the 12th member:

Cuse, Rutgers, Pitt, UConn, or WV...

Thus why the Big East is finally getting with the concept that football > basketball, by adding mo teams.

With the addition of TCU and now apparently UCF we will be able to weather the storm a lot better then if we remained at 8 or 9 and lost one of the above programs.

Well, good point but don't be surprise if they get invited.  You ask anyone outside this board and you'll get a different answer and they will make a case for them.  Like I said, I don't really care if they get invited.    But when it comes to money, I think they will.   We only have three sell outs in USF history (West Virginia, Miami, and UCF).  They bring us more money.  Plus, I think the only thing is it could be a blessing in disguise.  If they ever manage to get better than us, maybe USF would feel pressure to build an on campus stadium.

If Villanova says no to football, then the Big East can wait a bit before adding another program.

The league got the only program that can help better the football side of things with TCU.

I agree. What benefits do we have between 9 temas vs 10 teams? we dont get a conf champ game out of it. maybe scheduling would be a little easier with 10 but thats about it. Add quality not quantity.

I think anyone that isn't from USF will pick UCF as that next team.  As much as I hate to admit it, they would beat us this year.  We have no talent on our offense.  They did something USF has never did (in CUSA or Big East) and that is win a conference title.  They are playing for another this year.   They are doing it with a coach that is not is good as ours.     I did see another thread on the board about someone asking about Boise St to the Big East.  That would be a awesome but I doubt it would happen since they already agreed to go to the Mountain West.   So don't be surprise if UCF get's the nod if Villanova declines.   They have the facilities, decent program, and the TV market.

Really?

Have you seen them play and who they play?

W vs 4-7 South Dakota

L vs 8-4 NC State

W @ 2-10 Buffalo

L @ 7-5 Kansas State

W vs 4-8 UAB

W @ 5-7 Marshall

W vs 4-8 Rice

W vs 6-6 ECU

W @ 5-7 Houston

L vs 8-4 Southern Miss

W @ 4-8 Tulane

W @ 1-11 Memphis

vs 7-5 SMU (CUSA Championship)

They haven't beat anyone with an above .500 record.  Going 9-3 against that schedule is nothing special. And their rankings mean nothing since they are mostly from CUSA coaches. Don't believe the smoke and mirrors.

Yeah. Did you WATCH our game against Miami? Our D shut them DOWN. A true freshman walk-on QB lead an 80-yard drive against what was the nation's #1 passing defense, according to the ESPN announcers (go listen to it again on espn3.com). No way UCF would beat us this year, especially when they've lost to every team with a pulse.

You beat me too it.  Goosie don't understand, OUR C-USA we played #8 TCU & only lost by 3 points, we had a ranked L'ville, etc.  There were no Rice's, SMU's, Marshal's, etc, on OUR C-USA schedules.  APPLES - oranges!

You're neglecting to realize that USF played in a much tougher C-USA, which included a good Louisville program, TCU, and Cincinnati. There wasn't as much dead weight as there is now. Not only that, we were in conference for football from 2003-2005, not very long. Don't let those facts get in the way of a good discussion though.  ;D

Edit: looks like the posts above beat me to it.  :D

Guess the rumor of Nebraska being the 12th member is false then?

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
