cygnus34 Posted December 25, 2004 Group: Member Topic Count: 1,103 Content Count: 1,741 Reputation: 1 Days Won: 0 Joined: 02/26/2004 Share Posted December 25, 2004 South Beach is for the young crowd and much fun but the hotels are small, just a few rooms per hotel.  Miami Beach just to the north starting at the Fountain Bleu, the Doral and so on can accomodate groups and if you book early the rates can be very good.  For those coming just over night, the airport has some very good hotels and rates and is just a 10 minute cab ride from the O.B.  There is shuttle service to and from the airport.   I found some very good deals on HOTWIRE.COM.  Just so you know Coral Gables and Coconut Grove is CANE territory. There's an Argentinian restaurant on the street parallel to Ocean Dr. but behind it that has the best filet mignon I've ever had and it is reasonably priced (like $27.00).
