we better rise

We will.  That internet network hasn't even credited us for the Taurus Johnson commit, who is a three star, and highly rated national WR in their database.  Add Taurus and we shoot up rather quickly with three three stars, and two two stars.

Not like its a big deal considering Grothe's value outside of scouts.com is 10X's higher.

According to this web site, we are not doing so well in recruiting.  We are ranked 82nd - for example UCF is 65th, Florida 25th, fsu 21.

i am somewhat concerned after the poor season we had

we are foolish to think we will get better without changes

how can we be ranked so low?

on our worst day we should be in top half.we are from tampa where there is a  ocean  of talent

By the way, if you're so worried about team ranking this early in the game then look at Rivals which has us ranked 60th, despite only four commits, and UCF ranked tied for 72nd with 16 recruits.

You can manipulate the ranking and its highly subjective, but that should put your mind at ease.

Thanks Bien, I figured you would reply to this post.  However, I was and still I'm concerned about recruiting.  Looking at rivals, most teams have over 8 recruits/commitments, we only have four.  How many did we have this time last year?

We need to make a better showing in the football field in the BE.

Don't worry, we've got plenty in the fold.  There are a few big names that we should all keep an eye which will give an indication of what type of class we'll sign.  All indications are this recruiting class will be very good, and relative to what we've signed in the past excellent.  However, there are about 5-6 swing recruits visiting in January that if we can land 3-4 of them could turn this class into excellent by national 1-A standards.

We have never had 4 committments of this caliber before the January. FSU and Miami traditionally are fast finishers. Now I am not saying we are at their level, but many...and I mean MANY....of the kids we are chasing have USF in their top 2 or 3 with the competition only being none other than the Big 3 or other traditional powers.

Let me ask you this: would you feel better if we went out and got verbals from a bunch of lightly regarded prospects like UCF, or would you rather be heavily in the mix with recruits that Miami, Florida and FSU are after?

No I like it this way as long as we can land the other good recruits that Bien mentioned.  I asked becouse I understand we had an excellent class last year so I wanted to see how we compared this year.

half of that excellent class did not see the field esp on defense where we thought we recuited well and had the most need

i hope we can get those guy's in the fold and get the new recuits on the field or in school as RS so they can be ready the following year!

Last year was an excellent class, however by X-Mas we didn't have as many highly touted athletes committed to USF.

DeArmas, Grothe, Taurus Johnson, RJ Anderson, and Hill still heavily in the picture definitely makes USF in the mix.

If we can really finish this year, and I mean really sell the ship, this could be better than last year by a long shot.

I was away the past couple of weeks hospitalized for emergency bypass surgery and just got home today and have been catching up on the latest with recruiting.

Most of the pundits use the Rivals rankings to evaluate how well a School does.

I think the fact that we just landed Tarus Johnson is very important to how well we will do with the rest of our class. His verbal comes after a very poor year on the field and is clearly an indicsation that quality recruits are STILL coming our way. Hopefully, we will land a couple of more recruits of his calibere in the next week or two and then we will difinitely have a big finish.

In any event, I still think we will finish no worse that #1 #2 or #3 in the New Big East Rivals recruiting rankings, and could if a few players break our way separate ourselves completely from all the New Big East schools.

Last year we finished rankd #43 and #1 among New Big East Schools.

This year Rivals currently has USF ranked #62 which is fith in the NBE. But, when you consider that the schools infront of us have at least three times as many verbals, then it's pretty obvious it won't take too many 3 star recruits to pass them:

35  W Virginia  17 0 0 7

47  Pittsburgh 13 0 0 5

53  Louisville   15 0 1 5

57  Rutgers     16 0 1 3

62  So Florida    4 0 0 4

66  Connecticut 16 0 0 4

67  Syracuse    14 0 0 4

77  Cincinnati   9 0 0 1

UCF for example is currently ranked #68 but they have 17 verbals but ony 5 are three stars.

If do do even one quarter as well as we have done so far with the rest of the class, then we will probably lead the New Big East, and we will likely do better than that.
