But if i wasn't..... I would stay in Chicago and take the South Shore Line over for the game. They let you take a cooler and non glass alcohol on it while you ride.We are probably going to stay in Chicago and was wondering about train service down there, rather than drive. How close is the station in South Bend to the stadium? Is there a website with this info ...?

I seem to remember reading that they have a 2-night minimum during ND football weekends, but looking on the website right now, it seems to be allowing for one night for the time being.

Guest nybullsfan Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 ND's #20 in the way too early 2011 poll, let's knock 'em off it...http://collegefootball.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1175832

It would almost certainly come out more cost-effective than renting a car for the day and paying for parking at the stadium.

If it's a 3:30 game, can get there by noon, with 3 hours to get to stadium ... Coming back, though, can't catch a train until 10:15 ... It does provide another option to look at, though .. Still interested to see what the party train Eric was talking about on the Main Board comes out like.

Flying into Chicago the Saturday before the game, visiting friends in Grand Rapids, MI for 2 nights, 2 nights with a former coworker in Chicago, 2 nights in Downtown Chicago, Cubs game Friday afternoon, drive to South Bend (or just east of it) for Friday and Saturday night, fly home out of Chicago on Sunday afternoon. All we need to make this perfect is a win at South Bend on Saturday afternoon.
