Guess when you lose 6 starters to the NFL you should expect to see a little drop in the rankings... :ROFLMAO

I think it's a fair ranking right now

I am shocked that USF received four points. I wish the stupid coaches made their votes public, because I don't see anyone in a cursory glance at the participating coaches who would vote for USF. Probably a buddy of Holtz's or something. (EDIT: Actually I see now there are four Big East coaches in the poll, I only noticed Schiano before and I'm guessing none of the four points came from him. Maybe Strong, Marrone and/or Jones.)

The Big East received a lot more attention than I would have expected, with two teams in the top 25 and Cincinnati the first team out and a total of five receiving votes.

Florida at No. 3 would be the highest-ranked team USF has ever beaten. Here's to hoping.

Just for fun I'm predicting 7 school's that start out in the Top 25 won't be there at the end of the year. 8 teams in 2009 that were ranked didn't get ranked at the end of the year:

2009 Preseason Coaches Poll

1. Florida

2. Texas

3. Oklahoma

4. USC

5. Alabama

6. Ohio State

7. VT

8. Penn State

9 LSU

10. Mississippi

11 Oklahoma State

12. Cal

13. Georgia

14 Oregon

15 Georgia State

16. Boise State

17. TCU

18. Utah

19. Florida State

20. North Carolina

21. Iowa

22. Nebraska

23. Notre Dame

24. BYU

25. Oregon State

2009 Final Coaches Poll

1. Alabama

2. Texas

3. Florida

4. Boise State

5. Ohio State

6. TCU

7. Iowa

8. Penn State

9. Cincinnati

10. VT

11. Oregon

12. BYU

13. GT

14. Nebraska

15. Pitt

16. Wisconsin

17. LSU

18. Utah

19. Miami

Boise at 5 is a joke...what the hell will the BCS do if they upset Virginia Tech to open the season and then run the board?  God, would that be funny as hell!...

#45 for us is generous for now...and if/when we can pull off the 9/11 upset, we'll be in good position entering Big East play.  Then Skip will get tested for real.

And what is your reasoning? Because they aren't in a huge conference? They beat TCU last year to end the year. They lost 2 total starters, one from defense and one from offense. They play @ VT and at home against Oregon State. They are much more deserving than Florida, Texas, Iowa.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
