NEWPORT, R.I. – The University of South Florida football team was tabbed sixth by members of the media in the annual BIG EAST preseason media poll released Tuesday morning in Newport, R.I., at the BIG EAST media days.

The Bulls, under the guidance of new head coach Skip Holtz, tallied 79 points after going 8-5 overall and 3-4 in conference play in 2009, finishing tied for fourth in the conference.

USF, which lost a team record five draft picks in April, is coming off of two consecutive bowl victories and five straight postseason appearances.

The sixth-place pick is the lowest for USF since joining the conference in 2005, when the Bulls went on to qualify for their first bowl game.

looks about right to me. Rebuilding years happen with a regime change.

This year will be rough. I just hope to make any bowl game and see some progress through the season.

Still think we make a bowl at 7-5.

Sadly, I see this as about right for us this season.  Wish it weren't the case and I hope I'm wrong, but even Syracuse isn't a gimmie this season.

I don't know it seems like the only team that isn't rebuilding in the BE this year is Pittsburgh but even they have a rookie QB.

Overall this could be a very down year for the Big East and a lot of haters are going to fire away at the end of the season but come 2011 and 2012 its going to be some of the best football the Big East has ever seen.

WVU basically also has everyone back but a QB. They seem similar to Pitt.

Cincy was a very senior laden team last year.

Rutgers is young, but experience.

UCONN lost Dixon and the D was suspect at best.

Ville is a big question mark.

Cuse is improving, but are still a bad team.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
