It's like watching our kids leaving the nest. So proud.

I really hope I am wrong on this but I think Nate will be average at best. And I HATE to say negative things about any athlete that is good enough to get drafted. From what I have seen, I think he doesn't bring the wood like he will be asked to ESPECIALLY in PHILLY. I REALLY hope I am wrong. To me JR was the last safety I have seen regardless of school that stood out to me besides Ed Reed.

Crazy thing is I think Murph is gonna have a better career even though he wasn't amazing in college. I could see the potential in Murph with his hits(Which I LOVED b/c he would actually spear someone and bring the pain)! But he has the potential with his size, speed and nastiness to be Great! But that all comes down to him and if he wants to learn and actually listen to his coaches.

-Side note- To people that haven't played the game spearing is a part of it and is OK if you know what you are doing. People that just put their face to the ground and hit someone are asking to get hurt. But you have to remember this is FOOTBALL and the goal is to hurt whomever you are playing and win the game. Spearing is nothing like a chop block or taking someone's knees out. THAT IS CHEAP AND F'D UP, learn how to hip block if you are to small and if you are an O-lineman than you shouldn't be playing at that level if you have to dive at someone's knees!

Guess you never played? Football is an outlet for a lot of kids and is the only way they know how to release built up emotions.(Another tidbit Men/young Men are taught crying is for the weak). Not saying that is correct but that's how a lot of our society was brought up or had to learn at a young age.

And at no time did I ever say INJURE! Those are big words to say in football because if you have played the game your goal is to hurt the person and make them have to sit out for THAT game. But whenever you see someone go down and you know it's serious you don't wish that on anyone.

I personally had to deal with a serious knee injury and kept playing on it because I knew how it could effect my chances of getting a scholarship. But when you grow up in South Florida you know your only shot is to get a schollie and get as far away as you can. So no one, except for the few that would kill/steal from there own family would intentionally hurt someone. That was one of my biggest problems was when we practiced and trying to not take my intensity level to what it would be like for a game day. In football if you really want to hurt someone you can and it doesn't take much.

That is why if you ever have played you would know that when you are practicing and if someone goes low on a player that usually ends up in a fist fight or the person being called different names for not being A MAN for going Head up as we would say. When I said How Murph hits it was just meaning that he brings the wood and doesn't shy up from contact. Although he does lead with his head a lot and sometimes I get a little worried for him because I can see his helmet face down and making contact. But if you played defense the big hits are the ones where you can square up on someone and put your HAT on them(in other words hit them in the mouth with your helmet). It's one of the best rushes there is in life and not many feelings can compare to a solid hit on someone.(It's like being on the top of the world)

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
