“Matt’s mother and I are saddened by our son’s injury, but he’s a strong person and will still be involved as the team chases its first BIG EAST Championship.  He is going to help the team, the quarterbacks and the program in any way possible. He’s doing well mentally and physically and is anxious to begin the rehab process, so that he can put this injury behind him and continue with his football career.”

I wish the best to Matt and his family. They have all been great Bulls and certaintly Matt has lifted USF to a higher level.

Can't see him making an NFL team right away after this.  But I think he'll be able to start in either CFL, or UFL and prove he can still play.

it doesnt matter to me if he plays another down or not. if thats his dream so be it. i just hope he recovers and can make it to the next level, whatever that may be. he means alot to us.

Flip, we're all pulling for Matt and the Bulls.  I hope to see my Lakeland brother make it big.

I think that Grothe should stay involved wiht the team after this season, JL should offer him a graduate assistant position.

Was talking with a friend this evening and we mentioned the same thing.  I am sure he would like to continue playing, but if those opportunities don't come Matt would make an excellent graduate assistant.  He has the leadership skills, intelligence, and competitive spirit.  Wouldn't surprise me one bit to see him coaching a big time program one day.

for all he's done, perhaps one day he'll succeed CJL as coach...would be a whacky story but if he were to learn the game more, anything's possible. i hope he recovers fully and can give it a shot in the nfl draft. if not, don't give up, and i think he'll find a way to play somehow - because i know he loves to play.

just think, matt cassell never started a game for USC, and look where he's at now after ALOT of patience.

Thanks for all the comments guys.

Matt will definatly be involved with the team for the rest of the season and will be helping every player in any way he can.

As some of you may know already I am Matt's little brother, Chris.

GO BULLS!
