Not sure leading the Big East as the #33 team in the country gives me much comfort.  I hope that computer is wrong.

I think we all realize that wasn't a 35-13 beating we layed on an awful football team last night.  They were in that game late and ther isn't a single unit (special teams, offense, or defense) that played to expectations.  Our coaches know it, our players know it, and we know it.

I felt better reading CJL's comments though.  He understands we just beat a team that isn't in the same universe as a the rest of the Big East.  Hopefully he can get the team focused, and get them there quickly.

i can be an epic ******* and one of the biggest critics of this program when it is deserved, but in no way are we the worst team in the world.

that said, we are also not the best team in Big East as it stands right now.

Cincinnati, with their dominating win on the road over Rutgers-- an in-conference opponent that was expected to be in the race for the BEast title-- is clearly, hands-down, no argument, the best team in the conference right now.

not only is their resume and were their wins more impressive over tougher competition, but they LOOK better as a team: Pike is arguably the best QB in the conference this year [yes, MG is the all-time yards leader and he looks good so far this year despite a couple of stupid mistakes,  but Pike is simply sharper], Gilyard is the best receiver, and their defense is lights out.  WKU would never have run up, down and around the 'Cats all night the way they did to us.

and i haven't seen WVU play, and i know they struggled against Liberty or whoever their D1AA creampuff opener was against, but a win over ECU is a stronger resume than what we currently have.

of course, this can--- and most likely will--- all change as the season progresses and the wheat is separated from the chafe, or however the expression goes.

if USF beats FSU and goes into our conference home opener against Cinci undefeated, i believe the winner of that game will have a clear claim to the title.

Agree antagonist. I think the Cinci game will let us know how the rest of the season goes. I believe the winner becomes the favorite.

I believe that it takes at least 4 weeks for Sagarin's computer model to have a sample size large enough to connect teams and build an accurate model. That being said, there is a 4 team race for the top of the BE. We are right there with Pitt, WVU, and Cincy. Only time will tell.
