Leavitt wants UCF????

The West Virginia Rivals.com site says Leavitt wants a ninth Big East football team so bad he is not objecting to the conference exploring the possibility of adding Central Florida. He won't push it, but says it's up to the league. It goes to show you how bad those Big East coaches want that guaranteed fourth home conference game every year.

"Heavens no it wouldn't help us……But UCF is a Big East issue, not a USF issue. The league office wants to know what an addition would bring. It gets into TV, population and location," Leavitt said.

One thing favoring a UCF or maybe someday an FAU is that it would guarantee an annual visit to Florida for each conference school, which would be a nice trip for fans and of help with recruiting.

Where does it say he wants them?  He seems indifferent to me and acknowledges that it's not his decision to make.

This is just Chad trying to make himself feel better since all of his UCF to the Big East in 2010 chatter over the past couple of years is not going to come to any fruition.

He should know better than to think Coach Leavitt would be in favor of UCF coming into the Big East, if the Big East ever wanted to expand.

Think about it, and it is not an all together bad idea.  I mean, it would be nice to have a guaranteed win in conference besides Cuse.  It would help bring a little of the Big East South.  I mean, we have to travel north for all our games.  It would be nice to have a close away game to fill the stands in Orlando and kick the kids around.

On the bad, it will hurt recruiting as it brings some legitamacy to the school and will elevate the name of the Knights.  Also, the other schools will be more effective recruiters in Florida.

It is a bad idea. The league already has a bad image in the national eye after last season (see the 2009 Coaches Poll for further proof) even if it is unwarranted. UCF brings nothing to the table in terms of added value to the league. Adding another punching bag won't help the league.

Chad, deep down we dont want you in the league, so you can keep trying to make yourself feel better. As was stated at the Big East media gathering last week, no C-USA school adds value to the Big East. That may change a bit if Skip Holtz stays at ECU and builds them as nicely as he has done.

Regardless of whom becomes the 9th Big East team it does appear that these "rumors" are true... I personally think that Memphis will be the 9th BE team because they bring a much needed bowl game with them...

UCiF, ECU, etc. does not have anything to offer the Big East except that they could be another Temple...

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
