Gain ground?  on who?  you already lead the division  No one to catch up to ;)  Or do you mean on Anaheim for home field?  That would make sense.

Gain ground?  on who?  you already lead the division   No one to catch up to ;)  Or do you mean on Anaheim for home field?  That would make sense.

Maybe you didn't know Boston is only 1 game back of the Rays.  If the Sox win this series they take the lead in the division.  If the Rays sweep it'll most likely put the Sox out of contention.

Maybe gain ground is the wrong phrase, but this series is important.
