Assuming they win tomorrow, which I see them doing against Pavano with their full, regular lineup, the Sox play the Jays with Halladay on the mound which is almost a garunteed loss for the BoSox. Jays are still trying to get in and will do what it takes to beat the Sox. The Rays then come home for a series against Boston in which they have a record of 8-5(6-0 at home) against them on the year with Scotty K, Sonny, and Garza on the hill during the series unto which you better darn well believe Maddon will have his best on the field at that time. Beckett hasn't had his stuff since getting hurt, Dice K can't locate the strike zone(you can start 0-2 on him and end up walking), and Wakefield is just asking for Garza to knock his jaw out(the same Garza that OWNS Roy Halladay) For the week starting Sunday I see them going 6-1 with a loss to the Twins because of a few people getting a day off since the Rays will have clinched the division. It's easy as pie here on out. You say they're not playing well? WTF!They're playing pretty good with a makeshift lineup without CC and Longo. Now that Longo is back that adds the power back to the lineup. You're waaaaaaay too down on the Rays, and you act as though Boston is totally flawless at home. The Red Sox haven't been as good in Fenway this year as in past years and because of the 2 wins by the Rays this last week, they are now riding a huge wave of confidence. Who cares if they lose tonight, one loss doesn't make or break you because Maddon gave the majority of the team a rest. He just prepared the Rays for the rest of the week to play against high powered offenses. You were one of the people that was "Oh great, no Evan=no win" when he went down, weren't you? Look how they fared without him....2 1/2 games ahead in the division. They keep on finding different ways to win every night. Man it's great to know the team doesn't have an MVP candidate because they don't have to rely on any ONE person to be in the lineup.Oh and stop calling them the Devil Rays. They are the TAMPA BAY RAYS. Good gosh, someone's on the haterade.

I could understand if they had an old veteran outfielder that can't stay up for 2 games. But pena, longo, bartlett? They're all in their 20's. Are they blocking linemen downfield or something? Are they running up and down the court in a fast-break offense? It's baseball, not football, not soccer, not basketball. taking out 3 of your best hitters in a playoff race is a joke

Longo needed it off more then any of them, no need to work that wrist twice in one day. I expect them to do the same with him in the DH against the Orioles as well. Maddon gave them a rest because they have not great, but decent cushion against the Red Sox right now. There isn't a huge rush to have to win every game because he knows they've got a 3 game set against Boston and that's what they should be preparing for, not the lollygaggin' Yanks.
